Rachel Hannan was born on 18th August 1971 overlooking Newcastle Beach, NSW.
After completing her Fine Arts Degree at Newcastle University in 1992 with a High Distinction in Painting she directed her energies towards the performing arts where she began her successful career as a jazz vocalist and recording artist.
She maintained her art practice through one-off wearable art pieces and handmade painted jewellery.
In 2008 she returned to the studio and oil painting with a renewed freedom and a relaxed, less analytical approach.
“Amidst the raising of four children, painting is a necessary refueling, an opportunity to reflect and to celebrate the beauty and preciousness of the people and places that continually inspire and astound me.”
